LETTER FROM THE SACRED CONGREGATION FOR BISHOPS
Rome, March 30, 1979
Dear Bishop Sanchez,
This Congregation has learned with great satisfaction from you the announcement of the convocation of the Diocesan Synod which will take place from April 24-27.
Priests, Religious and Lay People have been preparing themselves in prayer and collaboration with you so that this important gathering will signify a deep renewal and an authentic growth of the Faith. In this grace-filled days, the life of the diocesan community – in its most significant expression – will be confronted with the Word of God and the teaching of the Magisterium so that the Church which is in Lucena, “having been made clean, appear glorious, with no speck or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and faultless.” (Eph. 5:26)
May the communion of Faith of your diocesan family together with its zealous and tireless Pastor become even more intense and effective in every sector of church life. May it respond to the needs of the community of Lucena and be a stimulus and example to the entire Church of the Philippines.
This is the wish that the Holy Father expresses to you through me and with his paternal congratulations to you, to the member of the Commission and Subcommissions and to all those who will participate in the Synod, he imparts his Apostolic Blessing.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
SEBASTIANO CARD. BAGGIO
