Before its erection as a parish in 1969, Bukal was a part of the parish of St. Micheal the Archangel in Tayabas. Since traveling to poblacion inconvenient due to the condition of the road, the people of Bukal looked forward to the day when they would have their own parish. The parish comprises the barangay of Domoit, Mayuwi, Gibanga, Potol, Calumpang, Tira, Isabang, Ilahyang Bukal, Ibabang Bukal and Calantas. Before the parish church and convent in Calumpang, which also has a chapel. The pioneering parish priest of Bukal was Fr. Severiano Salvania. Other priests who have served either as curate, administrator or Team Ministry member were Fr. Beato Racelis, Fr. Edgardo Lleva, Fr. Emmanuel Sarez, Fr. Antonio Salvania, Fr. Nelson Valle, Fr, Melecio Verastigue, Fr. Benjamin Roda, Fr. Francis Bingco and Fr. Crizaldy Maaño. While he was professor and music director at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminary in 1970s, Fr. Simeon Reginio used to say Sunday Mass at chapel in Calumppang, Where he taught the people the liturgical songs, including the responsorial psalm, which he composed.
