Erected on November 15, 1981 in solemn rites presided by Bishop Jose Sanchez, the parish comprises the barangay of Taguan, Bukal Norte, Buenavista East, Buenavista West of Candelaria and Lagalag of Tiaong. Fr. Wilfredo Decal was the first parish priest. The church was built on a lot donated by Don Paulo Macasaet. In 1979, work of preparing Taguan to be declared a parish. He was assisted by lay leaders, from Taguan to be declared a parish. He was assisted by lay leaders from Taguan and Candelaria like Resituto Almeda, Isidro Virtucio and Yeta de Leon. They were able to put up some pullars but the shortage of funds caused the work to shop. In 1980, the construction of the church resumed under the leadership of Mrs. Corazon Corpuz. Isidora Virtucio was a generous benefactress. That same year the first religious organization, Catholic Women’s League, was established in Taguan. When Fr. Decal left for the USA, various priests ministered in Taguan. Msgr. Espiridion Magundayao served the parish for two years. During the term of Fr. Benjamin Roda, the Parish Pastoral Council was formed and 19 MSK units were established. The PPC managed the building of the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catechetical and had the church consecrated in 1991. Fr. Librado Burgos continued the improvement of the church and started the major renovation of the church, belfry and altar. Fr. Arnelo Galeon enlivened the MSK, tiled the church floor, enlarged the church, and build the multi-purpose image of the parish patroness. With the slogan “Araw ng Baclaran, Tayo na sa Taguan,” the novena and procession in honor of the patroness. Fr. Aurelio Reyes also served as curate.
