St. Pedro Calungsod's Pilgrim Image Visits Maryhill College
LUCENA CITY – The reception accorded to the pilgrim image of St. Pedro Calungsod and to the Diocesan Council of the Laity officers looked like a feast day celebration last Setyembre 23, 2013, which was headed by Fr. Edwin Baruelo, director of the school, together with the BED principal, Dr. Enriqueta Alcoreza, and the PTA president, Dr. Marnie Baybayan, and the teachers and students.
This was followed by the celebration of the mass presided over by Fr. Baruelo. In his homily, he mentioned that he was happy that the “Patron of the Youth” visited the LUDICSA (Lucena Diocese Catholic Schools Association) member schools. He emphasized the fact that even a little child can participate in the missions. He also encouraged the students to have a devotion to St. Pedro Calungsod.
After the Mass, a vigil was held. The pilgrim image of the second Filipino Saint was brought the next day to the next school by the group of teachers: Gedeliza Forneste, Erma Cruzabra, Roldan Delloma, and Rose De Torres, together with the GS/HS Marian Generation Council of Officers (MGCO).
The purpose of the visits of the image to the schools was to introduce the life and holiness of St. Pedro Calungsod to the students. This activity is a part of the celebration of the "Year of Faith.” (Rose de Torres)
